Wooden walls and floors, outdoor decking, and large sash windows give this semi-detached home an open feel – perfect for groups of friends, who don't mind having a neighbour next door (or who might want to take over both homes). The home is made of thermo log, recently built in 2019, so this is a home that takes the log cabin vibe and modernises it. In the summer, make the most of the long nights on the balcony, watching the twilight through the pine forest that surrounds the plot. Come winter, it's only a ten-minute drive to Ylläs ski resort – when you're done, get home and bag your space in the private sauna. Evenings are best spent in the living area, in front of the burning fire and watching the TV from the grey L-shaped sofa. If that sounds a bit too chilled out, ski and snowmobile trails run by the space, perfect for exploring this corner of Finland.

Lyre's Leap

This cosy apartment near Ruka is the best of both worlds. Surrounded by lush Finnish forests, at the foot of nearby ski trails, and facing the stunning Lake Talvijärvi, it's got outdoor activities for every day of the week – no matter the season. Wood and stone accents and a neutral colour palette give this home a rustic cabin-like feel that blends perfectly with the great outdoors. A comfortable base, with everything you could need, we love the private terrace and the traditional fireplace. After a day of adventures, soothe your muscles in the electric sauna before settling down for a movie night. If you'd prefer to get out and about, head into Ruka. One of the largest ski resorts in the country, it's got dozens of shops and restaurants to explore. In the winter it's all about skiing but visit in the summer for hiking, kayaking, fishing and much more.


Silver & Snow

Some people prefer summer to winter but we think they're missing a trick, especially when it comes to this house. Nestled on the snow-capped slopes of Vuokatti, this place is perfectly located for winter fun, and there’s a ski service room to get your gear ready from the slopes. After a quick five-minute drive, you can be racing (or tentatively sliding) down those snowy tracks, hiking up the tree-studded hills, or just enjoying the scenery with a hot toddy in hand – something we can imagine doing a lot of, particularly when there's a roaring fire involved and a comfy sofa to curl up on. Though if you really want to warm your cockles, you should make a beeline for the home’s sauna, which you have all to yourself (providing you nab it before friends and family do). And, if you're still not convinced about a winter break, you can always come here in summer and while away the hours at the beach and glistening lake, which are just a stone's throw away. 

Arctic Wonderland

This cosy Lapland apartment offers unparalleled access to the fresh powder at Levi, one of Finland’s most popular ski resorts. Have a steaming cup of coffee on your balcony, and when you’re ready to hit the slopes yourself they’re a short walk away. After a day of adventures, soothe your muscles in the in-house sauna, before whipping up a comforting meal in the sleek kitchen. In the evening, snuggle up with your family on the couch in front of the fire for a movie night. Or head back out to the balcony with a glass of wine, and take in views of the lush forests for which the land of the midnight sun is famous, and keep a look out for the northern lights.

This cool ski-in ski-out apartment on the outskirts in the mountain village of Ylläsjärvi is as impressive outside as the slopes inside. There's almost a spaceship vibe to being inside, thanks partially to the fireplace and its grey steel frame. On the third floor of the block, your balcony overlooks the snowy winter sport scenery outside – to spend a moment out here is pretty breathtaking. Staying here, you're a four-minute walk from Sport Resort Yllӓs – get out your gear and hit the slopes, tour the shops for souvenirs, dine at the restaurants and indulge in massages at the spa.

A four-minute walk from Sport Resort Yllӓs, you’ll be snuggled up in the perfect apartment for enjoying all that holidays in Kolari have to offer. With wooden walls and partitions and Scandi-inspired furnishings, you'll get the cabin feel but in the luxury of an aparthotel. Take a breather on the balcony and admire nature’s beauty from your private platform. In the evening, sit down to dinner in the chic surroundings, and rejuvenate in the home sauna. Outdoors, adventurous possibilities await. Spend your time at the resort, skiing on the slopes, biking the mountain trails, or simply indulging on sweet treats at the wintry restaurants and cafes. 

Cocoa Bean

A traditional rural cabin with a modern twist, this home has everything you could need for a stay in this beautiful area. A two-storey apartment, its natural wood tones, and white and grey colour scheme make for a classic Nordic vibe, with neat, modern furnishings and woodland views. The heart of the home, the large living area is double height, with huge windows. Sectioned off from the kitchen by a large dining table for sociable evenings in, the sofas all point towards the glow of a rustic fireplace. It's a short drive to the local ski slopes in winter, or head to the lake with a swimming beach only a few kilometres away. With a sauna to soothe any aches and pains picked up skiing or hiking, this is the perfect place to get away from it all in nature's perfect playground.

Lovers of the great outdoors will be enchanted by this sleek home, located in the Sotkamo region of Finland. It's only a stone's throw away from the piste, and has some excellent amenities on offer, making it an ideal choice for friends or a family who want to immerse themselves in nature. 

The interior is simple yet smart, as you might expect from a Nordic home. Stretch out on the sofa with a hot cup of coffee between your adventures, or do as the Finns do and enjoy a sweaty session in the private sauna. There's also a balcony, complete with a barbeque, where you can grill up some delicious salmon and breathe in the fresh air. And, when the weather allows, the kids can have fun in the nearby playpark while the adults unwind with a glass of wine.

In the warmer months, adventurous guests can hike or cycle through the forest landscapes, or even hire a boat and sail around one of the nearby lakes. However you choose to spend your days, this is a fabulous escape away from everyday life.

Outdoor adventures await at this apartment in the heart of the Finnish lakes. You’re in Vuokatti, where activity centres offer zip-lining through the trees, boating on the lakes and skiing down the hillsides. In summer it’s all about lazy days by the lakeside, fishing or hiking through the forest trails, while in winter, when the evergreens are heavy with snow, the cross-country trails and downhill slopes for skiers open up. There’s a supply shop a short walk from your apartment and an onsite restaurant too.

The apartment itself is a haven of modernity inside, with white-wash brick walls and pendant lamps keeping things stylish. A wood-burning stove sits at the heart of the living room where plush velvet armchairs await to put your feet up after a long hike. Not only is skiing offered, but a short walk away is an adventure park and swimming spots – if you can withstand the cold for a refreshing plunge that is. During the warmer months, head out for a delightful hike, with many nearby routes to explore. After a day in the great outdoors, appreciate a soothing session in the sauna before retiring to the Skandi bedroom for a restful night's sleep.
