It has free WiFi, a washing machine, and electric heating. Guests will enjoy easy access to nearby attractions such as Ville Close, Pointe de Trévignon, Pont Aven, Port Manec'h, and Quimper. One small dog is permitted.

The 15th century home is a treasure chest, complete with a massive log fireplace, exquisite oil paintings and rich Chinese rugs, to name a few. The decadent interiors open up to quiet terraces and lawns that are perfect for barbecue sessions under the stars. Far from the the crowds, bike over to Varennes-sur-Loire for your breakfast croissant and go fishing at the Loire on warm afternoons. Surrounded by a golf course, an opera, a theatre and the Equestrian Cadre Noire, soak up the cultural goodness here. The host knows it's quite the task choosing a place for dinner so we suggest you allow them to serve you tailored recommendations.

Hardbound Volumes

On a French island with a distinct Italian culture, this apartment is surrounded by classic Corsican landscape and carefree Mediterranean charm. The craggy coastline and chic coastal towns are perfect for a discerning holiday-maker, but this tonal abode will tick all the right boxes too. Sleek, uncrowded interiors give way to a wrap-around balcony with mountain views, and the openness of the outdoor space makes it feel like an extension of the already spacious apartment. It’s definitely a spot that calls for your attention, be it for a croissant breakfast or an indulgent evening meal. Feel the blissful sun on your skin, while relaxing on the sun loungers, after a dip in the pool. Or get set off to explore the island —with Porto-Vecchio just a ten-minute drive away, plus lots of biking and hiking trails nearby, there truly is something for everyone. Not to mention, you’ll only be 3km from the beach! 

Coconut Suncream

Nestled away in the peaceful village of Mesbrecourt-Richecourt, there are parts of this address that date back to 1670. There are other aspects, however, that are no more than a few years old thanks to a recent renovation. Together, this heritage and modernity combine to make for a home that's full of character.

One thing that's immediately noticeable is the bountiful amount of natural light the interior enjoys from the tall windows and glass doors, and this asset is put to especially good use in the stark white kitchen and dining room. In the neighbouring lounge, there's a loft-like feel to the design thanks to the exposed brickwork and metal staircase sourced from an old sugar factory.

We've done very well to get this far without mentioning the wonderful outdoor space here. On summer afternoons, there's plenty of seating out in the garden and games equipment to make the most of the heat, while the south-west-facing perspective means that it's a prime spot for catching the sunset, too.

In the local village, there's a shop and cafe that are reachable on foot, as well as walking and cycling routes through the north French countryside to embark upon. A little further afield, the medieval city of Laon is only 24km away and has more than enough historic architecture to appeal to history buffs.

Nothing Tastes as Sweet

When we think of a French cottage, we have this image in our head – mellow stone walls, pale blue shutters and pretty gardens – well, it's tick, tick and tick again with this gorgeous home. Spend idyllic days cooling off in the shared pool or have a game on the communal boules court. Then enjoy some French cheeses and truffles for lunch on your private terrace. If you have kids with you, there are plenty of activities for them, too, such as a sand pit and swing. Inside, exposed stone walls, hexagon-shaped terracotta tile floors and traditional furnishings create a charming place to stay.

When you fancy exploring, the River Vezere and River Dordogne are 7 kilometres and 18 kilometres away, respectively. For restaurants and supermarkets, head to Les Eyzies, around a five-minute drive away from this cute home.



Duck Egg Blue Shutters

There's something truly magical about this home's location in the listed Occitane village of Laurac. As well as being so isolated as to bring a pleasing sense of tranquillity, the hilltop position means that there are lovely views of verdant countryside from the terraces.

Speaking of which, the address benefits from two such standout outdoor spaces. On the second floor, glass doors open out to an alfresco dining area complete with a barbecue and a glorious panorama, while back down at the ground and thirty metres' walk from the home, there's a secret garden with a swimming pool surrounded by vegetation.

It's plain to see that a big chunk of your time here is going to be spent out in the open air, but you'll also be happy to hear that the interior doesn't disappoint when you finally retreat indoors. There's a rustic feel to the design, with large ceiling beams sitting above a traditional fireplace and smart wooden floors. That being said, it doesn't feel dated in the slightest – the kitchen is a modern update on the country-style quarters found in many of the region's properties.

When it comes to filling up an itinerary, the rural surroundings and wealth of routes can be explored on foot or horseback, or by bike or kayak. The medieval architecture in the town of Carcassonne only takes thirty-five minutes to reach in the car, too.

Scene of Green

Situated right in the heart of the beautiful port town of Antibes, moments away from the beach and the Picasso Museum, this stylish and comfy studio apartment is an ideal place for a couple or a solo traveller to base themselves while exploring the many wonders this magical area has to offer.

Studio flats can often be hit-and-miss, but with a generous 431 square feet of space and elegant décor, this little gem easily wins our seal of approval – and that’s without even taking into account its prime location. Enter to be greeted by a warm and welcoming living area, with gorgeous furnishings and lovely details scattered throughout. It’s clear that the hosts took special care to make this place cosy and comfortable and this they achieved in spades. 

Relax on the plush sofa and snuggle up for a movie night or an evening of wine and conversation. You’ll be able to rustle up quick and delicious snacks in the well-equipped kitchenette and there’s even a small and charming dining table for those romantic candlelight suppers. 

While your bed is located in the same space as the living room, there’s a nice transition between the two and you’ll never feel cramped here. Get a restful night of sleep to wake up refreshed and ready for another day of coastal adventures. You’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to exciting things to do and places to visit – from Antibes itself, with its many restaurants, bars and museums, to the famous sandy beaches, and the other cities on the Cote d’Azur within easy access, there’s something here for everyone.

With such quaint and historic surroundings, this 17th-century terraced brick apartment aims to keep things tranquil and to let Lille do the talking. Explore this medieval principality - that once encompassed parts of northern France, as well as Dutch and Belgian provinces - from your centrally-located home.

Its modern interior brings 21st-century ideals to this otherwise historic neighbourhood with a statement black kitchen, modernist white furnishings and bold accent walls. The open plan dining area is an idyllic spot to spend quick breakfasts with coffee and croissants you picked up from the boulangerie Au Fournil de Jade Abdelkader, just five minutes walk, as well as candlelit dinners made with your market haul selection from Halles de Wazemmes, a fourteen-minute drive or twenty minutes if you’re optioning for the metro. 

Explore the Flanders capital’s distinctive Baroque architecture, its old town, Vieux Lille, and the former coal-mining site which is now the contemporary, Musée du Louvre-Lens. For dinner, stop into Le Présentoir for their seasonal delights and natural wines - our pick is a seat at the banquette with the oxtail terrine. 

Lille Light

This beautiful, thatched 19th-century cottage is as pretty as a picture. We love the gorgeous panoramic views of the river, sea, and the port from the south-facing terrace and garden. It's the perfect spot to watch the boats go by while tucking into some seafood washed down with a glass of local cider.

The interiors are just as charming as the exterior, with exposed stone walls, terracotta floors, vases of hydrangea and whitewashed beamed ceilings decorated with oars and fishing lines. Gather around the hearth with its deer antlers and wood burner when the Brittany weather turns chilly. There are more of those lovely river vistas from inside too. This place is a great retreat for family or friends all year round.

There's plenty to explore out and about – it's less than a minute's walk to the river, while Névez is just 4 kilometres away. The Port de Kerdruc is 270 metres, and there's a sailing school 5.7 kilometres, or if you fancy a day at the beach, Plage de Port Manec'h is just under 6 kilometres from this enchanting home.
